The story of Plantation Palm
Sometimes it is stimulating to create an idea out of imagined subject matter and then set about finding a place on which to base the actual work. This painting was created out of thin air and pencil sketches along with ideas from the client who commissioned the work. The idea began with a warm palette and a plantation feeling in mind. The window itself is from the back of my studio in Kula. I took a walk through the back streets of old Lahaina town to find many of the other elements and put them together to create this composition. -CWC
