Kula Plum, 2000
There is a color that stripes across the upcountry landscape every year for a brief time. It comes from the feathered tips of a grass that lights up in the sun. I know it as fire grass. It's a nice relief from the seemingly ever green hills that come in the winter, and is one of the strongest visual signs that Maui does in fact have a rich and vibrant change of seasons.
