Jacaranda Trio, 2015
I am asked frequently when I know when a painting is finished. My somewhat glib answer has always been "when I sign my name." Recently this has been proven untrue. Several years ago I signed a painting and titled it Way to the Top. It was framed and hung on the gallery wall. It found its way back to my studio when my wife recently rehung the gallery. Lately I have been spending a lot of time in my studio with paint brush in hand. My wife urged me to get out of the studio to enjoy the Jacaranda trees which are currently blooming all over the upcountry area. I did so, and she was right. If time allowed I would surely be embarking on a new Jacaranda painting to celebrate the season. Instead I found the perfect way to show my appreciation this year by adding these glorious trees, blossoming trees to Way to the Top and giving the painting a new title Jacaranda Trio.
