The Curtis Wilson Cost Gallery

Banana Sunday, 1996

This painting is largely about shapes. I love the graceful arch of the leaves and the play of translucent light. I love the spiral of bananas, the big scarlet flower; each tree is a work of balanced asymmetry. To render a banana tree is to paint a painting within a painting.
