Poi and Bananas, 2007
Light in Keanae has a quality all its own. There are taro and banana leaves backlit against the sun illuminated like stained glass. All around are the sounds of water bubbling through the troughs from pond to pond, and the crash of waves breaking in the distance. The breeze carries the aroma of plants thriving in the humid air. Everywhere there are compositions asking to be sketched and painted. All is in perfect balance in Keanae.
