Hammock, 2000
Hammock was painted from the garden of the Silver Cloud Inn looking out towards the island of Kahoolawe. Maui is always beautiful in the late afternoon sun. We'd attended a wedding in the Silver Cloud garden at that hour as the light streamed though the trees. It bathed everything in amber. The hammock took on a stained glass translucency, begging to be the center of attention. I returned to the garden a week later with my easel box to capture it in all its glory.
