I like to find original place names in Hawaiian to use as painting titles. I asked around about the original name of Baldwin Beach. For some reason, everywhere I asked, no one seemed to know. I asked my Hawaiian contacts and go-to resources. Nada. Eventually I enlisted the help of a few kumus of Hawaiian language in the quest to nail down the name of this area. It turns out the rocky point in front of the lifeguard stand has the name Kapukaulua. The translation is "the fish hole". The consensus is that it was the original name of Baldwin Beach.
All images are available unframed, gallery wrapped, or in a 1, 3, 5, or 6 piece furniture grade solid Hawaiian Koa wood frame with either linen or silk liner. Liners come in off-white, gray, or blue. The outside framed dimensions can be calculated from the image dimensions as follows: a 1 piece frame adds 1 inch to the overall framed dimension, a 3 piece frame adds 8 inches, a 5 piece frame adds 10 inches, and a 6 piece frame adds 12 inches. Please call or email and we will be happy to provide images to help you get the perfect frame style.
