This painting is largely about shapes. I love the graceful arch of the leaves and the play of translucent light. I love the spiral of bananas, the big scarlet flower; each tree is a work of balanced asymmetry. To render a banana tree is to paint a painting within a painting.

The outside framed dimensions can be calculated from the image dimensions as follows: a 1 piece frame adds 1 inch to the overall framed dimension, a 3 piece frame adds 8 inches, a 5 piece frame adds 10 inches, and a 6 piece frame adds 12 inches.
